Week of Welcome

To kick-off both the fall and spring semesters, Mercy College provides a Week of Welcome, filled with a variety of programs, events, and educational sessions. 
Unless otherwise noted, attendance at events is free. 
Mercy College faculty and staff are invited to attend the education sessions. **

Monday, August 21

Back to School Bingo - Presented by Student Life and Housing
  • 11:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.

  • What better way to kick-off the first week of the semester than playing bingo and hopefully winning a fun prize or two! 
Solar Eclipse Viewing - Presented by Student Life and Housing
  • 2:00 to 3:00 p.m. (The eclipse will peak at 2:27 p.m.)
  • Jefferson Parking Garage – top level
  • Join us as we witness this once-in-a-lifetime event on the top deck of parking garage.   
Embracing Difference: Five Tools to be More Inclusive ** - Presented by Diversity and Inclusion

  • Take a break and spend some time with members of the Duke Farm family, including baby goats (Ellie and Zoe), a baby pig (Petunia), a baby mule (Buckle), a baby sheep (Mo), and the most lovable rooster (Red)!

Guided tour of Our Lady, Queen of the Most Holy Rosary Cathedral - Presented by Campus Ministry and Service Learning
  • 12:30 p.m.
  • Participants will meet at the Cathedral, located at 2535 Collingwood Blvd., Toledo, Ohio. Please plan on arriving by 12:15 p.m.
  • Pre-registration is required. Sign up online.
Career Center Open House - Presented by Career, Professional Development, and Retention
  • 3:00 to 4:00 p.m.

Toledo Mud Hens v. Columbus Clippers (Hens and Hounds night)
  • 6:35 p.m.

  • Tickets are $5 each and students may purchase up to two tickets. Limited number of tickets available.

Campus Fest
  • 11:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.
  • McAuley Room and adjacent outdoor green space
  • This is an opportunity for campus organizations and departments, as well as community organizations and business, to promote their involvement and engagement opportunities to Mercy College students.
  • If your organization, department, or business would like to have a table at Campus Fest, please complete the online registration by Thursday, August 17. Register your student organization, department, or business for Campus Fest. 
Adams Street and UpTown District Walking Tour - Presented by the UpTown Association
  • 4:00 p.m.
  • The tour will depart from the Madison entrance lobby.  Please plan on arriving by 3:45 p.m.
  • Join representatives from the UpTown Association as they take a brief journey, approximately one hour, through our surrounding community.  Participants will receive information (and maybe even a few samples or discounts!) from local businesses along the tour route.
