Technical Requirements

Below you will find the recommended software for accessing content within Brightspace by D2L. Most technical issues can be resolved simply by having the proper software and configurations on your computer.
 
At this time Mercy College of Ohio strongly suggests that students not rely solely on tablet devices to complete course.  
 
Minimum System Requirements
Windows
  • 2.33GHZ or faster x86-compatible processor, or Intel Atom 1.6GHz or faster processer for netbooks
  • Windows 7 or Windows 8
  • 512 MB of RAM (1GB of RAM recommended for netbooks); 128MB of graphics memory
Mac OS
  • Intel Core Duo 1.83GHz or faster processor
  • Mac OS X v10.6, or later
  • 512MB of RAM; 128 MB of graphics memory
Brightspace by D2L Browser Support
D2L is committed to performing key application testing when new browser versions are released. However, due to the frequency of some browser releases, D2L cannot guarantee that each browser version will perform as expected. If you encounter any issues with any of the browser versions listed in the tables below, contact D2L Support, who will determine the best course of action for resolution. Reported issues are prioritized by supported browsers and then maintenance browsers.
 
Supported browsers are the latest or most recent browser versions that are tested against new versions of D2L products. Customers can report problems and receive support for issues. For an optimal experience, D2L recommends using supported browsers with D2L products.
 
Maintenance browsers are older browser versions that are not tested extensively against new versions of D2L products. Customers can still report problems and receive support for critical issues; however, D2L does not guarantee all issues will be addressed. A maintenance browser becomes officially unsupported after one year.
 
Note the following:
  • Ensure that your browser has JavaScript and Cookies enabled.
  • For desktop systems, you must have Adobe Flash Player 10.1 or greater.

  • Microsoft Office
    • Many vendors sell a student version of Microsoft Office at a discounted rate upon proof of enrollment. Examples include stores such as Best Buy and online stores that cater specifically to educational software: Journey Ed, Academic Superstore. If you plan to enroll in one of our CIS (Computer Information Systems) courses, carefully review your syllabus to see what version of Microsoft Office you will be required to use for completing course work, as your text book will be written for a specific version.
