Are my parents allowed to come to SOAR?
Parents who have graduating high school seniors are welcome to attend SOAR.
Do I start the Financial Aid process before SOAR?
Students should start the financial aid process as soon as taxes are completed. The FASFA should be completed at least two weeks before coming to SOAR. This will allow the financial aid office to assist you with final steps of the process.
What are we going to do at SOAR?
At SOAR, you can mingle with current students, faculty, and staff. You will be introduced to financial aid, registration, housing, Mercy College policy and procedures and get answers to your questions. You will also register for your classes at SOAR.
Do transfer students need to attend SOAR?
Yes – all students must complete SOAR before beginning classes at Mercy College.
Does the Accuplacer Assessment and academic advising need to be completed before SOAR?
Accuplacer testing and academic advising must be completed at least 48 hours before SOAR. Your initial acceptance letter will describe the Accuplacer testing procedure only if it is required of you. You will not be able to register for classes if Accuplacer testing is required and you fail to do so prior to SOAR.
When do I get my college schedule?
Students will leave SOAR with a semester schedule and will be ready to start classes.
Who will help me with my college schedule?
Your academic advisor will help you with your schedule during advising. Please see SOAR Information and Reminders (above) for information regarding scheduling academic advising.
