Student Orientation and Registration (SOAR) Information

Students starting at Mercy are required to attend a SOAR session prior to the start of classes. Please read the full page of information below carefully.

Please note the steps below. If you are unable to complete these requirements, please contact us immediately.

1.  Review your acceptance letter to see if the ACCUPLACER Assessment is required of you. If so, please contact the Mercy College Testing Center directly to schedule your assessment at (419) 251-1734. ACCUPLACER Testing must be completed at least 48 hours before your appointment with your academic advisor.

2.  Submit the $125 Enrollment Deposit and Enrollment Deposit form (included in your admission packet). This enrollment deposit serves as your acceptance for admission at Mercy College.

3.  Schedule an appointment with an advisor. Contact the Academic Resource Center Administrative Specialist, Keri Cline at (419) 251-8955. You will not be able to attend SOAR without meeting your advisor first.

4. Bring the following items with you the day of SOAR:

  • Materials from your advising appointment, such as your program of study worksheet and the list of courses you were advised to take for the upcoming semester.
  • A valid government issued photo ID
  • Your vehicle information including the year, make, and model of your car, and license plate number (so we can process your parking pass).

All degree-seeking or certificate-seeking students will meet with their academic advisor, program chair or admissions officer during SOAR to determine class schedule for the first semester of attendance at Mercy College. If you feel you have a complex schedule outside of class (job, family, etc.) or if you have questions about program requirements or transferring of credits, you are encouraged to have a phone conversation with your advisor prior to attending SOAR.

  • SOAR typically lasts 4 to 6 hours, please plan the remainder of your day accordingly.
  • Students beginning clinicals will receive an additional mailing from their department regarding program orientation, uniforms, health records and additional assessments.
  • Students currently enrolled in classes at another college are reminded to have official transcripts sent directly to Mercy College when final grades are posted.
