Admitted Undergraduate Students - Next Steps

Congratulations! You've received your acceptance letter to Mercy College and you're ready to take the next steps towards enrollment. Check out the information below to guide you to the first day of classes.

Note: The information below is for Toledo campus and online program students. Youngstown location students should note the steps listed on the Youngstown Orientation page for next steps. Contact Admissions at admissions@mercycollege.edu or 419-251-1313 with any questions.

All new incoming undergraduate students are required to pay the non-refundable enrollment deposit upon admission to the College. The deposit will be used towards the balance of your first bill upon enrolling. There are two ways to pay the enrollment deposit.

  • Pay the enrollment deposit online with a debit or credit card: Pay Enrollment Deposit.
  • If you wish to pay by check, complete and return the Enrollment Deposit Form that was sent out with your acceptance letter along with your $125.00 deposit to Mercy College of Ohio, ATTN: Admissions, 2221 Madison Avenue, Toledo, Ohio 43604.  Checks should be made payable to Mercy College of Ohio. If you have misplaced your form please call 419-251-1313.

If you haven't already done so, complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). Mercy College's school code is 030970.

Students required to take the Accuplacer test are notified in their acceptance letter. Accuplacer is a computerized assessment that provides information about a student’s math skills and preparation for college-level course work.

Toledo campus land-based students must meet with an academic advisor PRIOR to attending Student Orientation and Registration (SOAR). Schedule an appointment with an advisor by contacting the Student Success Center at 419-251-8955. Information detailed in the advising session will be used for course registration during SOAR. See item #5 (below) for information on registering for SOAR.
 
Youngstown location students meet with academic advisors at Youngstown Orientation. See item #4 for information regarding orientation and how to schedule orientation.
 
Online program students will receive information in the mail about how to contact their academic advisor to schedule an appointment. In addition, the Program Director will send important information including a Plan of Study or Program Worksheet to indicate which courses to register for upon receiving the Empower log-in information. To schedule an appointment with an advisor please call 419-251-8955.

All students are required to take part in Orientation.

Toledo campus students should register for a Student Orientation and Registration (SOAR) session online at SOAR Information.

Youngstown campus students should register for an Orientation session at Youngstown Orientation page.

Online program students will receive a College email with instructions and a link to complete the Online Orientation prior to the beginning of the semester. Students will learn how to access Canvas, the learning management system where all of your courses will be housed. In addition, College policies and procedures, student behavioral expectations, and resources for success will be covered during orientation.  For more information about the Online Orientation contact 419-251-1313 or email admissions@mercycollege.edu.

Toledo campus students register for classes at Student Orientation and Registration (SOAR). 

Youngstown campus students meet with an academic advisor and register for classes during Youngstown orientation.

Online program students receive a Plan of Study/Program Worksheet from their Academic Advisor. It is recommended students talk with their assigned advisor to understand what courses to register for. Contact the Student Success Center to schedule an appointment with your advisor at 419-251-8955 or schedule an appointment online. Once the Plan of Study/Program Worksheet is finalized, online program students can register for coursework via EmpowerMe. 


EmpowerMe! is the on-line student information system that gives students access to their academic and financial records. EmpowerMe! enables students to have access to their schedules, unofficial academic transcripts, grades, course offerings and financial records. It is also where you will go to register for classes. Please review registration instructions and video: EmpowerMe Instructions.  

Student email account information will be mailed out shortly after you have been accepted. Visit https://chpeconnect.health-partners.org to initiate the changing of your password which uses your Network Account User Name you were given. Enter in your old password as indicated in the letter, and type in a new password. The password needs to be 8 characters in length and must contain an upper case letter, a lower case letter, and a number.  Enter in the new password again in the Confirm password field. Once done, click OK. Your password should now be reset. If you need IT assistance, please contact the Mercy Health Service Desk at 1-800-498-1408. Once your email account is set-up, this will be the primary way all College business will be communicated. 

Mercy College has a relationship with Matthews Medical Books (Online). After registering for classes, students should access the online bookstore to order textbooks. Instructions and online bookstore information:

Students currently taking courses at another institution or finishing high school must be sure to request that final transcripts be sent to Mercy College. This ensures that all completed coursework is reviewed for transfer credit and all final grades have been documented. Final transcripts should be sent to:

All Mercy College students (Toledo, Youngstown, and Online Programs) must complete Title IX training. This training is to educate you on Mercy College’s policies and procedures related to sexual misconduct, exploitation, intimidation, harassment, and violence, awareness and prevention resources. Information specifically about training will be communicated via Mercy College email.

Depending on the program that a student is admitted to, additional requirements may be required including Background Checks, Drug Screens, and Health Records, a program specific meeting, and/or other necessary paperwork. This information will be sent to you separately.
