How To Apply

To be considered for all available forms of financial aid, students must apply for financial aid as early as possible. Students must reapply each year. To be considered for all forms of financial aid, interested students must have a complete financial aid file and have applied for acceptance to the college/program.

Required documents usually include, but are not limited to:

  • A completed FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid)
  • Signed copies of the student's and parents' (if applicable) most recent IRS 1040 form and all schedules
  • A separate application for each scholarship or benefit for which the student is applying
  • Loan applications and a loan worksheet, if a student loan is desired. All necessary forms must be submitted to the college's Financial Aid Office by the required deadlines.
Financial Aid Checklist
  • Complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) Form for the current academic year. Remember, this must be done every year.

  • Add Mercy College to your Student Aid Report (SAR). If you did not list Mercy College originally, a correction must be made.

  • This can be done on your copy of the SAR. If you no longer have a copy of the SAR, you can:
  1. Request a duplicate copy by calling 419-337-5665

  2. Complete a Duplicate Request Form, available in the Financial Aid Office

  3. Request an electronic duplicate SAR from your current institution

  4. Check with your current institution, or on an old SAR for a PIN/DRN number. If you have your PIN/DRN number, Mercy can do this request for you.
  • Complete a new Loan Application/Promissory Note and the Mercy College Loan Worksheet if you are planning to use Student Loans at Mercy College.

  • Submit any documentation that may be required if you were selected for verification by the Department of Education, even if you have already completed this at another institution.

It is recommended that you make an appointment to discuss the transfer process at Mercy College. This will assure that you have completed the necessary steps for your financial aid to be processed and to avoid possible delays. The Financial Aid Office is open Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. - 4:30 p.m., or by appointment. Please call 419-251-1598 for additional information.
