Financial aid is any funding that you receive to help pay for your education. This can include grants and loans.
Most federal programs are awarded on the basis of "DEMONSTRATED FINANCIAL NEED." Need is the difference between what it costs to attend a specific institution and what the family is able to contribute toward that cost. This "family contribution" can only be determined by filing the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA).
There are basically two types of federal aid available: grants and loans.
Grants are awarded on the basis of financial need and do not require repayment. The grants that are available through Mercy College of Northwest Ohio are the Federal Pell Grant, the Federal Supplemental Educational Opportunity Grant (FSEOG), Ohio Instructional Grant (OIG), and the Ohio Choice Grant for four-year students.

Fees will be refunded when withdrawal occurs between the third week and the end of the fifth week of the term. In the case of new students who may receive a refund if they withdraw officially before the ninth week of their first term, no refund will be given if withdrawal occurs after the fifth week of the term.
No refunds are made unless the student follows the withdrawal policy. Notification to an instructor or not attending class does not constitute an official withdrawal. An exit interview with the Financial Aid Officer is required for students with financial aid.
For unusual circumstances a student may appeal. The Financial Aid Officer will assist with the appeal procedure.
*The matriculation/reservation fee and the application fee are non-refundable.

Upon receipt of a student aid report from an accepted student the financial aid officer combines aid from available sources to form a financial aid package. Some students will be offered a combination of aid from different sources. Acceptance of the package, or any source of aid, constitutes a commitment on the part of the student. The student commits to maintaining satisfactory academic progress and notifying the financial aid office and/or lender of any changes in housing, finances, status at the institution, etc., that may occur.
Tuition and fees are subject to change without notice.
