The Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN-C) completion program is designed for those individuals already holding a RN license. This program prepares the RN for career mobility, professional development and provides a firm base for ongoing study, both formal and informal. Registered nurses (RN's) applying for admission to the BSN program must be a graduate of a regionally accredited professional nursing program and must hold a current license to practice as a registered nurse as well as meet all college admission requirements. Nursing courses are scheduled to be completed over four semesters. Time for total program completion is dependent on transfer credits and general education and science course requirements.
Once enrolled, students in this program join a community of learners, also known as a "cohort", who complete the same nursing courses together throughout the program (assuming the program is completed in four semesters). A cohort is very beneficial in that it creates not only a community of learners all focused on achieving the same goal, but also helps establish a lasting network of individuals who will hopefully remain in contact long after the program has been completed.
With this degree completion program, there are a number of both professional as well as support courses needed to meet the general education, residency credit and graduation requirements.
On-Campus Meeting Requirement: As a condition for graduation, all online degree completion students must complete a one (1) credit hour residency (on-campus meeting). The residency consists of an 8-hour kick-off orientation session, which will take place the 2nd Friday of August (just prior to entering the online degree completion program) as well as an 8-hour summation session, which will take place the 3rd Friday of April (just prior to graduation from the degree program).
