Program Description
Coding is a part of one of the fastest growing occupations in the healthcare industry, Health Information Management (HIM). After successful completion of your coursework, you may wish to take the American Health Information Management Association (AHIMA) certification exam to become a Certified Coding Associate (CCA). The CCA should be viewed as the starting point for an individual entering a career as a coder. The CCS (Certified Coding Specialist ) and CCS-P (CCS – Physician-based) exams demonstrate mastery level skills the CCA should strive for to advance his or her career. More information at: www.ahima.org (Scheduling and cost of this exam are not included in this program).
The six courses listed below are necessary to cover the content that is required to take the national certification exam (please complete the courses in the order listed below). A high school diploma or a GED equivalent is required for this program as it is often required for employment.
