Medical Transcription

Medical Transcription is a process by which one transcribes the medical records (including clinic and office notes, operative reports, discharge summaries, psychiatric evaluations, X- ray reports, laboratory reports, history and physical reports, and pathology reports, etc.) dictated by the doctors and other health care professionals into final documents. Medical transcriptionists often work in a doctor’s office, hospital, clinic setting or even from home!

The Medical Transcription Certificate program is comprised of four classes that must be taken in the following order: Medical Terminology, Keyboarding, Basic Transcription and Advanced Transcription. Those participants who can show previous experience and course work in medical terminology and/or keyboarding will not be expected to retake these classes.

The course fee includes your textbook and headset. A high school diploma or a GED equivalent is required.
