New HIT Scholarship

Mercy College of Northwest Ohio is proud to announce two full tuition scholarships will be available to Health Information Technology students in August of 2007. Mr. John Hayward, President of Mercy College has announced his intent to provide these scholarships in an effort to attract the best and brightest in our area for students interested in the area of Health Information Technology (HIT). The HIT program highlights the vital national agenda toward implementation of the "medical information super-highway" through the electronic health record (E.H.R.) initiative. The E.H.R. initiative will transform healthcare forever, and students have an opportunity to play a role toward saving patient lives through technology.

Scholarship Information
Both high school seniors and students transferring from another regionally accredited college may apply. High school seniors must be admitted to Mercy College's HIT program, have at least a 3.0 grade point average (GPA) and an ACT composite score of at least 21 (or comparable SAT score). Transfer students must be admitted to Mercy College's HIT program and have earned a minimum of 15 credit hours of college coursework with at least a 3.0 GPA from a regionally accredited college. For applicants who have attended more than one regionally accredited college, GPA's from all of these colleges must combine to equal at least 3.0.

Recipients must remain continuously enrolled either full-time or part-time in good standing within the HIT program. Students must also maintain a 3.0 GPA and complete the program within two years for Fall Start and within two and one half years for Spring Start. This scholarship can only be used towards otherwise unpaid or uncovered tuition and fees. The approximate value of scholarship is up to $18,000.00, based upon 2006-07 tuition rates.
