Policy and Procedure
For your convenience, an abbreviated version of DE’s policy and procedure appears below based on frequently asked questions. Distance Education’s full policy and procedure are listed on the M: drive under M:\MCL_Academic\Distance Learning\Policy and Procedure
Desire 2 Learn Course Creation
Course links (or shells) are created via an automated process initiated by the college Registrar. Any course on record with the registrar is granted a link within D2L specific to a Term, Course, and Section. These links cannot be repurposed by the instructor, as the instructor and students on the roster are also automatically populated into the course section.
Desire 2 Learn “development” shells
As a general rule of thumb, course links are not provided without a specific purpose. Development courses are only provided when a faculty is going through the Instructional Design process as initiated by Distance Education.
Hybrid or Online Course Proposal
All online or hybrid course offerings must be approved by both Distance Education and the Associate Dean of your division. A formal process is in place and must be completed before development may begin.
