Employment Growth
The Bureau of Labor reports that Health Information Management is the 13th fastest growing occupation in the United States. By 2014 all hospitals expect to have electronic health records; the Bureau predicts a corresponding 18 percent growth in the number of HIM workers through 2016. Each year 6,000 new HIM positions need to be filled due to industry growth and attrition. HIM jobs are currently available in all areas of the country and across all credentials.
