Campus Ministry

Campus Ministry:

Campus Ministry at Mercy College serves the entire college community – students, faculty, and staff.  It is rooted in the Roman Catholic tradition, yet is designed to serve all people.  Through various prayer services and liturgies, campus ministry desires to help the college community in their spiritual growth.

St. Joseph Chapel, located on the 1st floor of the College, and the campus ministry lounge and meditation room, located on the 5th floor, are open and hospitable places in which all can experience a sense of community, a place for quiet reflection, or a venue for deeper sharing and prayer.

Through individual direction and group prayer, the campus minister helps to provide opportunities for spiritual growth.  The six aspects of Campus Ministry as outlined in the 1985 Bishop’s Pastoral Letter, “Empowered by the Spirit,” which is still relevant today, provide the basis for the campus minister’s role.  These are:

  • Forming the Faith Community
  • Appropriating the Faith
  • Forming the Christian Conscience
  • Facilitating Personal Development
  • Educating for Justice
  • Developing Leaders for the Future
