Important Update! Spring 2012 Class Registration

Spring 2012 Registration is here!  Below are a few updates for the week of November 7, 2011:

  • BIO 210:H1 lab has moved to Thursdays from 5:30-8:20pm
  • BIO 201:W1 is now reserved for Nursing students in Youngstown
  • MTH 095:01 has been moved to Wednesdays from 12:00-1:50pm
  • ART 300:W2 has been CANCELLED
  • REL 101:W2 has been CANCELLED
  • COM 300:W2 has been CANCELLED
  • MTH 095: 02 has been CANCELLED

Registration is Open:

  • November 7, 2011 at 8am for students who have earned 60 + credit hours
  • November 8, 2011 at 8am for students who have earned 30+ credit hours
  • November 9, 2011 at 8am for students who have earned 0-29 credit hours

Student Records employees will be present in the Library Computer Lab from 8-10am to assist students with registration.

*** PLEASE remember to see your ADVISOR prior to registration.  Also, please remember to take care of all BUSINESS HOLDS prior to registration***

Army Nurse Corps Association 2012 Memorial Scholarship Program

General Information

Scholarships are $3,000 per selected applicant.  The application process requires close collaboration between the student and the school. All complete applications are due by 31 March 2012.  Extensions will not be granted.  Applications will be reviewed by the ANCA Education Committee and selected students and their school will be notified within a few weeks.  Scholarship funds are sent to the school on behalf of the student and not given directly to the student.  The Army Nurse Corps Association does not have an official relationship with the US Army, the Army Nurse Corps or the Reserve Officer Training Corps. There is not a military service obligation for the student receiving this scholarship.  Scholarship ROTC students and students receiving full GI Bill education benefits are not eligible.

Mercy College changes name

As of August 15, 2011, Mercy College of Northwest Ohio becomes Mercy College of Ohio.

In announcing the name change, College President John Hayward noted the existing Youngstown campus and recent significant growth in distance education programs. “While we have campuses in both Toledo and Youngstown, students are increasingly choosing on-line classes making Mercy College a viable option for students outside of northwest Ohio. We strive to meet the constantly changing needs of the healthcare industry by providing the degrees and continuing and professional education required by the ongoing transformation of healthcare delivery.”

The name change maintains the College’s rich history. Established in 1992, the College is successor to the Mercy School of Nursing, founded in Toledo in 1918. Mercy College is sponsored by Catholic Health Partners and Mercy, its regional member organization. Catholic Health Partners is one the nation’s largest and most respected health care systems and the fourth largest employer in the State of Ohio.

“Everything else remains the same at Mercy College,” Hayward explained. “We are committed to providing the highest quality education with affordable tuition while remaining steadfast in the Mercy values of compassion, excellence, human dignity, sacredness of life, justice and service. We are faithful to our Catholic tradition and the heritage of our founders, the Sisters of Mercy and the Grey Nuns. We seek to inspire our students to be of service and to mentor others through the twenty-first century and beyond,” Mr. Hayward added.

The College currently offers Bachelor of Science degree programs in Human Biology, Medical Imaging, Nursing and Health Care Administration, and Associate of Science degree programs in Cardiovascular Technology, General Studies, Health Information Technology, Nursing and Radiologic Technology. The College also offers credit certificates in EMT-Paramedic, Ophthalmic Technology and Polysomnographic Technology.



Dorothy C. Lanier Scholarship for Phi Theta Kappa Ohio Region

This scholarship is established in honor of Dr. Dorothy C. Lanier, aunt of Willie Lanier of Richmond, Virginia. Mr. Lanier is a 1986 Pro Football Hall of Fame Inductee and former linebacker for the Kansas City Chiefs. This scholarship has been created by Willie Lanier to honor the inspiration, dedication, and love provided by Dorothy Lanier to not only him but to students pursuing their educational and personal dreams.

The first time this scholarship will be awarded is at the Leadership in Action Conference to be held at Washington State Community College in Marietta, OH on July 22-23, 2011. Phi Theta Kappa will then award the next scholarship at their Regional Convention in March 2012 and award it once a year. Information on how to apply can be found here!!



IMPORTANT MESSAGE FROM THE MERCY COLLEGE BUSINESS OFFICE

The Business Office will be closed Monday, March 21st through Friday, March 25th.

If you have a past due balance and are concerned about registering due to a Business Hold on your student account, please make sure that your payment reaches the Business Office no later than 4:00pm on Friday, March 18th. This is the only way you can ensure that your account is in good standing for registration which begins on Monday, March 21st. Any payments made online or through the Business Office drop box after 4:00pm on Friday March 18th will not be posted to your account until the Business Office re-opens on Monday, March 28th.

Payment Reminder – Spring 2011

ALL STUDENTS: Please log in to your EMPOWER account to make sure that your bill has been paid in full. Even if you have received a refund check earlier in the semester, please double-check your balance as many students have had book charges, YSU fees and/or ID replacement charges added to their accounts after refunds were processed.

Your account must be paid in full unless you have a current payment plan or pending financial aid. Business Holds have been placed on any accounts with outstanding balances.
