Be Comfortable in Your Genes (Jeans) Campaign

Friday, January 13th, 2012

If you are thinking about getting rid of your jeans, your kid’s, or husband’s jeans, hold onto them for a little while longer. In February, 2012, I will be collecting your old jeans and donating them to the Women’s Shelter in Toledo in honor of Eating Disorders Awareness Month. All sizes are welcome. Drop off your jeans or other clothes in the student lounge in the bin or on the 5th floor.   - Wendy Nathan, Director of Counseling

Toledo Campus Open House – February 18, 2012

Wednesday, January 11th, 2012

Mercy College, Toledo Campus, will host an Open House on Saturday, February 18, 2012 from 10:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m.  As always, we appreciate your help with this event!

As usual, I am asking that the program chairs/associate deans be in charge of organizing your own student volunteers for your lab areas, as you are the best judge of which students you feel are most qualified to represent your programs/divisions (I already have a list of volunteers from the Division of Nursing).  Also, each program will need to have at least one representative staffing their table in J3302.

Room J3302 will be set-up on Friday, February 17, 2012 at 1:30 p.m.  For those that set-up displays at Open House, please bring over and set-up your display anytime after 2 p.m. on Friday, February 17, 2012.

We are in need of VOLUNTEERS. It would be great to have students or faculty or staff volunteers for these duties:

  • Jefferson Avenue Greeters (by the elevators on the 3rd floor)
  • Escorts (walk guests from Madison Avenue lobby to room 3302)
  • Tour Guides (Providing a campus tour)
  • Refreshment Table Replenishers (in room 3302)

If you are interested in volunteering, please email me at:
shelly.mccoy-grissom@mercycollege.edu or call 419-251-1203 and indicate which area you want to help with.  I will then send you a confirmation email with more details.

Thank you for supporting Mercy College’s Open House – which is our most successful recruitment event!  Future recruitment events, which are on the master calendar and www.mercycollege.edu, are:

  • April 21, 2012     Toledo Spring Open House     10:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m.
  • June 6, 2012      Toledo Information Session      5:30 p.m.

Alternative Spring Break Trip – Still Some Openings

Thursday, January 5th, 2012

March 5-9, 2012

We will travel to Harlan, Kentucky, in the heart of Appalachian coal country. Harlan County, according to the 2010 census, is among the poorest areas of the United States.

If you are interested in service to the poor and underserved during Spring Break 2012, please see Sr. Sally in the Campus Ministry Office, or contact her at sally.bohnett@mercycollege.edu or 419-251-1866 ASAP!  Spaces are limited and an application will be required (see Sr. Sally). The cost for the trip is $150 with a down payment of $50 due by January 13, 2012 (extended deadline).  This is a great way to deepen within each of us our Mercy Core Values.
