FAFSA Reminder!

NEW Mercy College Scholarship Opportunity

The financial aid office is pleased to announce 10 additional non-renewable scholarships for the 2010-11 academic year.  These scholarships are funded by the Fifth Third Bank. Fifth Third Bank is a United States regional bank corporation with headquarters in Cincinnati, Ohio and locations throughout Ohio and other Midwestern states.  This scholarship will be awarded to new or current students with demonstrated financial need.  The deadline to apply for this scholarship and all other Mercy College scholarships is February 28, 2010.  You can apply on-line at http://www.mercycollege.edu/financial-aid/scholarship-online-application/.  You only need to complete the application one time to be considered for any scholarships!  If you have any questions, please contact us at 419-251-1219 or financialaid@mercycollege.edu.



Financial Aid Application Reminder

The FAFSA is the Free Application for Federal Student Aid. By completing the FAFSA you are taking the first step in the financial aid process. The FAFSA will:

-          Determine your eligibility for Federal Grants, Loans and Work Study

-          Determine your eligibility for Ohio Grants

-          Determine your EFC (expected family contribution) and need

You should file the FAFSA or renewal FAFSA online at http://www.fafsa.ed.gov/. FAFSA on the web provides numerous edit checks which help to prevent errors. Summer and Fall 2010 Program Admission Letters

For students who were admitted into the Associate Degree in Nursing, Bachelor Degree in Nursing or Associate Degree in Radiologic Technology for Summer and/ Fall 2010, you will receive your acceptance letter in the next couple of days, as they were sent on 1/28/10.

Those students reviewed thus far had a cumulative GPA of a 3.0 or higher. 

Students with a 2.7 – 2.99 cumulative GPA who have completed all of the program requirements will be reviewed in March. 

All others will be reviewed in May.

Mercy College Annual Campus Crime Report

Mercy College of Northwest Ohio has submitted campus crime statistics to the U.S. Department of Education as annually required by the Jeanne Clery Disclosure of Campus Security Policy and Campus Crime Statistics Act.  This report includes statistics for the previous three years concerning reported crimes that occurred on-campus; in certain off-campus buildings or property owned or controlled by Mercy College; and on public property within, or immediately adjacent to and from the campus.  You can access the Annual Campus Crime Report either at http://www.mercycollege.edu/about/fast-facts or on the Youngstown site at http://www.youngstown.mercycollege.edu/about/fast-facts.  If you would like to obtain a paper copy of the above report, please contact Julie Leslie at julie.leslie@mercycollege.edu or at (419) 251-1598.



The Nursing Programs at Mercy College of Northwest Ohio are nationally accredited and approved by the Ohio Board of Nursing.

The Associate of Science in Nursing program (AD) is approved by the Ohio Board of Nursing (last visit February 2009) and is accredited by the National League for Nursing Accrediting Commission (phone 404-975-5000). The program was last visited in October, 2008 and at the February, 2009 Board of Commissioners meeting was granted 8 year continuing accreditation (the maximum amount allowed).

The Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) is approved by the Ohio Board of Nursing (last visit February 2009) and is accredited by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE, phone 202-887-6791), last visit October, 2008 with a decision to grant continuing accreditation for 10 years (maximum allowed).

The BSN program is also accredited by the National League for Nursing Accrediting Commission (404-975-5000). The program sought initial accreditation with NLNAC at the time of the October AD visit. The program was granted initial accreditation for a period of 5 years (maximum allowed).

Army Nurse Corps Association 2010 Scholarship Program

Eligibility Criteria

·         Nursing students who plan to enter a component of the US Army and are enrolled in a program not funded by a component of the US Army

·         Nursing students who have previously served in a component of the US Army

·         Army Nurse Corps officers in a component of the US Army enrolled in a nursing or other eligible program not funded by the US Army

·         Army enlisted soldiers in a component of the US Army enrolled in a nursing program not funded by the US Army

·         Nursing students whose parent(s) and/or spouse are to have served in a component of the US Army

ANCA scholarships are $3,000 per selected applicant.  All applications are due by April 1, 2010.  Interested qualified students may obtain additional information by downloading the
