Institutional Effectiveness

​Mercy College defines institutional effectiveness as the systematic and ongoing process of collecting, analyzing and acting on data and information relating to the goals and outcomes developed to support the College’s mission and vision. Institutional effectiveness is oriented toward measuring results and using these results to aid in decision-making and improving programs and services of the College that support student learning.  It is the ability of an institution to meet its mission.

Institutional Effectiveness at Mercy College focuses on answering the following four questions:

  1. LEARNING OUTCOMES:  How systematic strategic planning, driven by a comprehensive assessment process, supports teaching and learning.
  2. INSTITUTIONAL ASSESSMENT (DIG):  How well are the departments/divisions doing their jobs in order to arrive at where they want to be or who they wish to become?
  3. INSTITUTIONAL ASSESSMENT (EVIDENCE): How can the College improve what it is doing?  Evidence is needed that demonstrates that programs and services have been improved.
  4. STRATEGIC PLAN: Where does the College (departments/divisions) want to go, what does it want to become and how will it get there?
