The Pharmacy Technician program will prepare students to take the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) examination, which the State of Ohio requires to be employed as a pharmacy technician in Ohio. The program includes courses in basic anatomy and physiology, medical terminology and pharmacy calculations, as well as a number of functional areas including: assisting the pharmacist in serving patients, maintaining medication and inventory control systems, and administration and management of pharmacy practice.

Visit https://www.ptcb.org for the most current information regarding eligibility and exam requirements. Ohio does not permit pharmacy technicians with a felony record of any kind to work in Ohio. Students who expect to be employed in another state should check with the Board of Pharmacy in that state.

As of April 8, 2009, new pharmacy technicians must pass the PTCB examination which has been approved by the State Board of Pharmacy to determine a person’s competency to perform services as a pharmacy technician.
