New Hydroponic Garden at Mercy College

Monday, June 27th, 2011

The long anticipated hydroponic garden has been installed on campus in the courtyard between the parking garage and the professional building. The system uses only water and mineral nutrient solutions. The plants grow in coconut-shell-lined pots and are connected to a central rain barrel that delivers the water and nutrient solution to grow the vegetables. We’ve planted squash, various types of tomatoes, peppers, lettuce and herbs. The garden has a foot path that’s only 5′ X 15′ and contains 128 plants. Check it out when you have a moment or click below to see a picture.
