Payment Reminder – Spring 2011

ALL STUDENTS: Please log in to your EMPOWER account to make sure that your bill has been paid in full. Even if you have received a refund check earlier in the semester, please double-check your balance as many students have had book charges, YSU fees and/or ID replacement charges added to their accounts after refunds were processed.

Your account must be paid in full unless you have a current payment plan or pending financial aid. Business Holds have been placed on any accounts with outstanding balances. Important Deadline Reminder:

Wednesday, February 23rd, 2011

Mercy College Scholarship Applications are due by Monday February 28, 2011. Carefully review all scholarship descriptions as requirements for each are unique. Remember to submit your FAFSA if you would like to be considered for the need-based scholarships. Only one application is necessary. Remember to obtain letters of recommendation if necessary.

The following scholarships require two letters of recommendation from previous clinical instructors:
*Sr. Phyllis Ann Gerald R.S.M. Nursing Endowed Scholarship
*Ruth L. Kelly Nursing Scholarship
*Ruth Obert Kolwitz Bachelor of Science in Nursing Scholarship
*Debbie McCoy Scholarship

The following scholarship requires one letter of recommendation from a previous clinical instructor:
*Regueyra Family Memorial Scholarship

Submit your application and recommendations to the financial aid office by the February 28^th deadline – if you have any questions, please contact the financial aid office at financialaid@mercycollege.edu or 419-251-1219.

Financial Workshop Series
Have you thought about your Financial Future? Want to know how to plan for it? Attend the Financial Workshop Series sponsored by the Office of Career and Professional Development. The Financial Workshop series will take place Wednesdays, February 16, 23, March 16 and 23. The Workshops will be held in Room 3111 and from 12 to 1 p.m. Representatives from Mass Mutual will be conducting these very educational and beneficial workshops to assist you with your Financial Planning! Expression of Diversity Quotation Contest
Attention all Faculty, Staff and Students! The Mercy College Diversity Council is sponsoring the “Expression of Diversity Quotation Contest”. The contest will run from now until Wednesday, March 23, 2011. Students are asked to review the 5 Quotations Expressing Diversity and submit an entry reflecting on one of the quotes. The quotes will be judged by a panel of Mercy College Diversity Council members and the top three entries will be recognized and receive a prize. In addition, to the top three prizes this year, three entries will be selected as Honorable Mention. The prizes this year are wonderful for our students:

1st place: $50 Gas Card, $50 Gift Card to Kroger and a $10 Copy Card
2nd place: $25 Gas Card, $50 to Mercy College Clothing Store, and a $10 Copy Card
3rd place: $25 Gas Card, $25 to Mercy College Clothing Store and a $10 Copy Card
***The 3 Honorable Mention selections will each receive a $20 Gas Card***

Summer and Fall 2011 Schedules and Registration

The Summer and Fall 2011 Schedules are available for viewing beginning Monday, February 28 on EmpowerME.

Registration for Summer and Fall 2011 will begin at 8:00 am on the below dates based on the number of credit hours you have earned:

March 21 60 + credit hours

March 22 30-59 credit hours

March 23 0-29 credit hours

Please remember to see your advisor prior to registering for classes.
