Student Email Accounts

Friday, March 19th, 2010

Since I do not monitor and empty student email boxes, some email boxes are becoming full to such an extent that they can no longer receive emails, and valuable information and assignments are being lost. Both the student and I receive a notification each time an email is sent and the email box is getting close to being full. They usually received 3-5 notices, depending on the size of the email that they are being sent. After it is full, they can no longer receive email in any form. I currently get from 100-150 full email box announcements for every MERCYCOLLEGEALL email I send.

In addition, everyone should be aware that there are rules against “Internet Email Relay” on our servers. That means that if someone NOT having a Mercy College email sends you an email and you forward your Mercy College email to a NON-mercy account, this is called a RELAY, and the email (due to international SPAM guidelines) is discarded. Mercy College does not recommend forwarding your email.

Please take a look at your email boxes.
